The Revival Wrap Up

This past Sunday The Zephaniah Movement completed our 5 day revival. It was such a special

event to witness and to be a part of. Each day was filled with fellowship, love and the Spirit of God! Our theme this year was entitled, “Chosen” and after the week we had we can definitely see clearly that we are a chosen people. The scripture that was a reoccurring point was 1 Peter 2:9, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” Our Father God was intentional with us and this scripture because we felt just how special are to God. Each night we laughed, cried and by the end of the evening we hated to leave! With this edition of the newsletter we wanted to share some of the highlights and joy of our time during revival. While we couldn’t capture each moment we welcome you to catch a glimpse!

Wednesday Night- Opening Night

We had our very own Bishop Jenkins opening up the first night with a lesson on the intentionality of God choosing us. She made sure to remind us that we don’t need to be anxious and if we choose God and let Him have his way, He will get us to where we need to be. It was also made extremely clear that the Lord understands us and we should never allow the enemy to convince us otherwise. We are also reminded that because we are chosen by God we might as well stop fighting and get out of the world. We no longer fit in the world nor do we have a place in it. Night One set a bold standard for what was to come in the following days.

Thursday Night- Family Night

The following night we had a panel discussion with our Archdiocese Board. We are blessed enough to have a group of elders in our church that was able to impart some wisdom on the generations that would help maintain and grow our Christian families. While there may be different trends for today, the wisdom they imparted onto us was timeless. There was encouragement and tips for singles, advice for those who are single parents looking to date, and guidance for the married couples. It was wonderful to have our elder members of the church pour into us. We may be grown but we still need guidance sometimes when navigating life.

Friday Night- Youth night

At the height of our revival week, Youth night was an extremely exciting night for our whole church family. The youth took over the service with scriptures and prayer. We even had our very own Latrell Butler bringing the word for us! It was a special moment for everyone in the house because he is just a senior in high school and this was the first word he was bringing us. He was calm, cool, and collected as he stood in front of the congregation and reminded us that God would fill our void. Latrell also fervently reminded his peers not to fall into temptation of the enemy or lean on temporary pleasures of this earth. He pushed for us to have our forever home, heaven, at the forefront of our mind. It was such a beautiful moment to see God’s hands on His youth. Some of us in our youth climbed a fool’s hill and it was such an honor to be a witness to the youth learning and growing in a safe environment under God’s tutelage.

Saturday- Praise & Worship

What’s a people for God without praise and worship of the Most High God? Now one thing we are going to do as a people is praise and worship God. We didn’t have a choir or a particular singer come in for this night. Instead, Bishop Jenkins gave the congregation the opportunity to prepare songs to sing for this service. Some of the songs we sang were, “Take me to the King”, “Just for me”, “I love you, Lord” and “Bless that wonderful name”. While some of us may not have been used to singing in front of the others, our hearts were pure with our praise and we know God accepted it. We had such a good time relaxing and being amongst like minded people. This night was the accumulation of our love for God and for each other.

Sunday- Consecration Sunday

Consecrate is defined as to devote irrevocably to the worship of God by a ceremony. This is exactly how we ended our last day of revival; by devoting ourselves to the Lord. We dressed in white as a symbol of unity and purity. Bishop Jenkins preached a word from God and prepared us for the next step. She made sure to let us know that to dedicate ourselves to God was optional to us and insured us that no one would judge those who did not dedicate themselves on this day. Our God does not force anything upon us and that has not changed. What He does want is for us to be serious in our dedication to Him. So if we were to participate we must have made up mind that we were willing to allow God to change us and that we were turning our back to sin. The original plan was for Bishop Jenkins to anoint each of us and pray for us individually. However, the Holy Spirit had other plans and took over by encouraging, imparting power, and establishing callings in individuals. This last event taking place was a confirmation to the theme of Chosen. It was such a beautiful ending to a life changing week.

If you were unable to make it this week, don’t fret! God is still doing a mighty work in The Zephaniah Movement. We will have the sermons uploaded to Youtube soon. We pray that reading this newsletter will encourage you and allow you to see there is still a people that serves God and lives Holy! Be encouraged readers, God is doing a marvelous work in this season. Our world may be in turmoil but for the Kingdom of God we have perfect peace. We will continue to work and spread the gospel. We are so blessed to have you watching and enjoying the work we do for God.

Let us leave you with a prayer:

Thank you, Father God, for how You showed up and showed out for Your people during our revival week. You allowed us to be surrounded by love and fellowship and we are grateful for it. Now Lord, I ask that You bless our reader. Please strengthen them with power to withstand the enemy and overcome this world. Plant their feet firmly in their faith of You. You are a wonderful, magnificent God and we shall serve You all of the days of our lives. In Jesus name. Amen.
