Finding Your Way home

Writer's picture: Western Hills FellowshipWestern Hills Fellowship

Do you remember when you were a child and the amount of fun you had outside playing? We may be adults now, but as children we were able to venture away from home, seeking an opportunity to explore. Our freedom from home kept us excitedly hanging with friends and perusing the neighborhood. Scraped knees, hunger pangs, and curfew were some of the things that led us begrudgingly back to our homes. As we trekked back we saw the familiar signs, letting us know that the route we were taking was the correct way to our home. It could’ve been the corner store, the house with the big dog, a lamp post, and just about anything else that gave reassurance that you were headed in the right direction. In the morning or at night, rain or sunshine you could always confidently follow the landmarks back to your home.

Do not remove the ancient landmark which your fathers have set. -Proverbs 22:28

As spiritual children of God, it is imperative for us to continue to know the way to God always. Our home is heaven and we are destined to make it only if we continue to walk the right path. Our earthly parents provided a home for us here on earth but our Heavenly Father has provided an everlasting home for us in heaven. Life will provide adventure after adventure but don’t get too caught up that you no longer recognize the neighborhood of righteousness. Keep your eyes open and your spirit unto God to recognize the path you must take. God has never allowed us to walk this earth aimlessly, with no direction. He has given us Jesus and the Holy Spirit to direct our path.

We know that in this day and time there have been many eager people working to bring the gospel to others in new and innovative ways. We also know that times have changed and creative ways must be used to reach this generation. However, let us not get so caught up in creativity that we forget Christ. While we are mesmerized by the latest trends in churches, let us not be disillusioned with the enemy’s desire to lead us down an unknown path. On this journey home to heaven, if we do not look for the signs of God and His ways we will get lost down a path of deception. There are some things we cannot substitute or make into something “cool” like praying fervently, being filled with the Holy Spirit, reading our physical bibles, and living a Holy life filled with Christ.

As you have taken this moment to read our newsletter we would like for you to also take a moment to think on the path you are walking now in your personal life. Are you able to recognize the landmarks that will lead you to heaven? Have you received salvation? Are you able to see the love of Christ around you? Are you filled with the Holy Spirit? Do you live a Holy life? If any of your answers make you question the path that you are on then we are grateful to the revelation the Lord has given you and we encourage you to talk to the Lord and ask Him to guide you back to where you belong. It is time that you take a closer look at your route and make sure that your feet is leading to our heavenly home with our Father.

Let us leave you with a prayer:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the righteous path You have made for us. We thank You for opening up Your heart toward Your children. We are forever grateful to You and we are honored to be counted in the numbers. At this moment, Lord, we ask that You bless our reader. Give them a vision of the wonderful place that You have for them and get them excited about their heavenly home. We ask that You place a burning desire in them to draw closer to You. We also ask that You show them landmarks that lead to You. Make it plain so that they do not be deterred by the enemy, satan, and his tricks. We honor only You, Father, and give You all the glory. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
